Reducing Valves
GRUPA WOLFF makes comprehensive deliveries of pressure reducing valves intended for gases, vapours and liquids. Our services include engineering consultancy, necessary calculations, selection of a proper solution, as well as a delivery, installation and service. Moreover, we install complete pipework systems with necessary fittings.
Pressure reducing valves are applied wherever control and stabilisation of pressure of gases, vapours and liquids are required. In case of simpler applications, direct action pressure reducing valves are most frequently applied. On the other hand, in those cases where a high stabilisation of the medium flow is required, pressure reducing valves controlled by the so called pilot are applied.

1. PILOT CONTROLLED PRESSURE REDUCING VALVE
- Making necessary calculation
- Selection and delivery of a proper solution
- Installation and service
The main valve is controlled by a pilot valve which in fact is a small direct action pressure reducing valve. The pilot valve controls opening of the main valve, allowing to obtain a necessary outlet pressure, which enables a very precise pressure regulation.
Pilot controlled pressure reducing valves BAILEY of the G4 series control pressure much precisely than direct action pressure reducing valves.
- Range of available diameters: 15 mm to 150 mm (1/2” to 6”)
- Max. inlet pressure: 41.4 bar(g) (600 psi(g))
- Pressure reduction range: 0.07 to 20.7 bar(g) (1 to 300 psi(g))
- Scope of operational temperatures: -20 to +427°C (-4 to +800°F)
- Available material design: bronze, carbon steel
Pressure reducing valves with a pilot are intended mainly for applications requiring a very high precision of action. They are applied in many industries, as well as at commercial and public utility buildings.
Exemplary areas of application:
- pressure reduction plants at hotels, office buildings and hospitals
- chemical and pharmaceutical industries
- food industry (including brewing)
- tyre manufacturing industry
- production of clothes and paper
- steelworks
The pilot controlled pressure reducing valves offered are technically advanced, proven solutions manufactured as per the ISO9001: 2008. Due to our policy of constant development, the products achieve the optimum efficiency level and a high reliability.
This category products have PED and ATEX certificates as required by the EU law.
2. DIRECT ACTION PRESSURE REDUCING VALVES
- Making necessary calculation
- Selection and delivery of a proper solution
- Installation and service
In case of direct action pressure reducing valves, the medium under pressure brings about a shift of the spring-weighted piston (or membrane). This results in a medium flow with a set pressure downstream the valve. The value set for the valve can be changed through tightening or loosing the screw pressing home the screw.
Such type governing valves are characterised by a simple and compact design, which ensures a long service cycle without the necessity to maintain it, even in difficult operating conditions.
Although the pressure control through a direct action is not so precise as in case of pilot controlled valves, such valves are successfully applied in many areas due to their lower costs of purchase and good flow parameters.
- Range of available diameters: 15 mm to 150 mm (1/2” to 6”)
- Max. inlet pressure: 41.4 bar(g) (600 psi(g))
- Pressure reduction range: 0.35 to 20 bar(g) (5 to 290 psi(g))
- Scope of operational temperatures: -20 to +230°C (-4 to +450 °F)
- Available material designs: bronze
BAILEY pressure reducing valves are applied wherever boilers, compressors or pumps generate a high pressure of gases and vapours. These valves are characterised by a high reliability and a long life span.
Direct action pressure reducing valves are intended for simple applications in such areas as:
- Pressure reduction plants at hotels, office buildings and hospitals
- Chemical and pharmaceutical industries
- Food industry (including brewing)
- Tyre manufacturing industry
- Production of clothes and paper
- Steelworks
Pressure reducing valves belonging to that category are proven devices manufactured as per the ISO9001: 2008. Due to our policy of constant development, the products achieve the optimum efficiency level and a high reliability.
