Cartridge immersion heater | ATEX gas zones | FP-CA type
The FP-CA cartridge immersion heater with a flameproof enclosure and replaceable heating element. The devices are ATEX, IECEx, CSA, CU TR, KGS, CNEx, CCOE, and Inmetro certified. These heaters are intended for heating of oil and similar chemicals which require a low heat density. The heaters are applied in processing equipment and piping operated in explosive gas or dust atmospheres. The heaters can be optionally provided with ATEX-certified thermostat controls. The heaters are intended for vertical installation and horizontal installation orientation versions are available on request. A standard heater comprises a single heating element (or a number of heating cores) fixed in an installation flange.

The FP-CA electric immersion heater is ATEX-certified for use in Zone 1, 2, 21 and 22 of explosive gas or dust atmospheres. The standard versions of the product can be supplied with any electrical power source up to 690 V (600 V CSA). Each heater is provided with a heavy-duty terminal box for easy and secure wiring. The product’s design ensures fast installation in processing pipelines (with a NPT/BSP threaded end or a standard connection flange).
The heater is designed for long, heavy-duty operation (with a rating of IP66). The enclosure of the heater is made of mild steel (or, optionally, stainless steel, depending on the order) finished by powered coating (or, optionally, epoxy coating). This series of heaters is intended for different media, mostly oils and similar chemicals which require a low heat density. The heaters are most often installed in horizontal pipelines (there are optional heaters available for vertical installation orientation) and various types of processing equipment which require heating of the process medium.
The heating element is a high-quality, NiCr (80/20) resistance conductor. It is installed in a sheath of Incoloy 800 filled with magnesium oxide powder which provides electrical insulation and an extremely good heat transfer coefficient.
The product is supplied with a 20 mm cable gland. More cable glands can be provided on request. The standard version features overtemperature protection (optional protection features like thermostat controls, thermocouples and RTD sensors are available on request). An optional version can be ordered with a separate terminal box for wiring and installation away from the installation flange.
The permitted ambient operating temperature of the heaters ranges from -60˚C to +60˚C.
