EX 8000 / EX 5000 multi zone control unit

Applications

  • A control feature for the explosion suppression system that manages the HRD cylinders, pressure sensors and IR detectors.
  • The CIE multi-zone control unit provides explosion suppression system monitoring, relays the stored energy impulse to trigger the HRD cylinders, and on-line verification of the system status.
  • The modular architecture enables selective (zoned) activation of the explosion suppression system (e.g. limited to an equipment unit where an explosion occurred).

Specifications

  • The CIE control unit receives, controls and evaluates the outputs from pressure, spark, flame and temperature detectors.
  • The HRD explosion extinguishing cylinders are triggered selectively, depending on the configuration of the explosion suppression and isolation system.
  • The system detection and activation lines are continuously monitored for shorting and loss of ground.
  • Backed up with battery power for continued operation in the event of a mains loss.
  • Individual zones of the system can be remotely armed or put offline.
  • Integrated in massive switching cabinets with optional heating or air conditioning.
  • Protection type: IP54, application: Zone 22, ambient temperature: -10°C to +40°C.
  • ATEX-compliant design.

Model approach to explosive safety in an industrial plant

Model approach to explosive safety in an industrial plant

Step 1
ATEX Audit

During the ATEX Audit, we will focus on deficiencies in explosive safety and indicate tasks that should be performed first to have the strongest impact on safety improvement.

Step 2
Protection Concept

The result of the ATEX Audit is also a preliminary concept of protecting the installation from explosion. It allows estimating the costs of protections. After testing the explosiveness parameters of the dust from the installation, we move on to the final concept and design.

Step 3
Design and selection of protections

After accepting the concept and testing the explosiveness parameters of the dust from the installation, we proceed to the final selection of explosion protections and create a design that takes into account all required changes in production.

Step 4
“Turnkey” delivery and installation

We coordinate the entire delivery and installation process of protections. We have our own service teams with experience in performing installation without the need to stop the investor’s plant operation.

Step 5
Execution of ERA and EPD

We conduct a post-implementation Explosion Risk Assessment (ERA) and prepare (or update) the Explosion Protection Document (EPD). We usually also conduct training for the crew in the field of explosive safety.
