Brilex KE decompression panels

Brilex KE relief panels are the economically ideal solution for protecting process equipment, where the vacuum does not exceed 60% of the rated opening pressure. Brilex KE panel is a widely used explosion vent protection worldwide, as it is certified for Kst values up to 650 bar m/s and 100% venting efficiency.

 One-piece design with cross ribbing provides faster explosion response than commercially available three-piece panels 

Brilex KE decompression panels are flat rectangular explosion protection vents, with a one-piece design with profiled edges, cross ribbing and integrated pressure control and seals. Such design features result in a faster reaction to a dynamic burst pressure surge than commercially available flat panels with a three-part design. It should be noted that as long as the vacuum in the protected instrument does not exceed 60% of the rated opening pressure, in this case the Brilex KE vent is an excellent alternative to the Brilex GE panel, due to its long service life and better aerodynamics compared to the domed type.

Standard specifications:

  • Material: 304 SS or 316L SS
  • Integrated seals
  • Opening pressure (Pstat): Standard 0.1 bar at 20 C, for other certified parameters (lower or higher) opening pressures contact us
  • Tolerance regarding opening pressure: Standard +/- 10%.
  • Vacuum resistance: 50% of the rated opening pressure
  • Maximum operating pressure: up to 60% of the rated opening pressure
  • Sizes: Rectangular (229 x 229 to 1000 x 2000 mm)
  • Insulation: Optionally with ROCKWOOL with aluminium cover or Armaflex.
  • Venting efficiency: 100% depending on Kst. value

2 additional design options

Brilex vent TYPE KE-W
A panel which retains all the features of the standard KE vent, plus a curved design that allows the panel to fit into cylindrically shaped tanks and apparatus. Its vacuum resistance is -200 mm WC while maintaining a curved structure.
Brilex vent TYPE KE-Z
A panel designed for the protection of demanding equipment, such as cyclones. It has deeper slots in the collar area.

During the ATEX Audit, we will focus on deficiencies in explosive safety and indicate tasks that should be performed first to have the strongest impact on safety improvement.

Protection Concept

The result of the ATEX Audit is also a preliminary concept of protecting the installation from explosion. It allows estimating the costs of protections. After testing the explosiveness parameters of the dust from the installation, we move on to the final concept and design.

Step 3
Design and selection of protections

After accepting the concept and testing the explosiveness parameters of the dust from the installation, we proceed to the final selection of explosion protections and create a design that takes into account all required changes in production.

“Turnkey” delivery and installation

We coordinate the entire delivery and installation process of protections. We have our own service teams with experience in performing installation without the need to stop the investor’s plant operation.

Step 5
Execution of ERA and EPD

We conduct a post-implementation Explosion Risk Assessment (ERA) and prepare (or update) the Explosion Protection Document (EPD). We usually also conduct training for the crew in the field of explosive safety.
