Flameless explosion vent IV8

In case of an explosion in a protected device, the IV8 flameless explosion vent brings out the cooled gases caused by the explosion. Thanks to the special design of the explosion vent device, during the release of the explosion the flame is extinguished, the pressure is significantly reduced and the gases are cooled. The flameless explosion vent consists of a stainless steel decompression panel and a flame arresting grid. They are housed in a rugged carbon steel-clad housing. The vent’s integrated burst detection sensor enables plant personnel to respond quickly in the event of an explosion in the protected area.

Greater safety at lower cost

The flameless explosion vent with innovative IV8 (Indoor Vent 8) burst disk technology can be used where standard explosion venting is no longer sufficient. The DIN EN 16009-certified protection system was developed to make flameless explosion venting more economical. Compared to common solutions, the IV8 offers greater efficiency and safety at a lower cost.

Explosion relief redefined

Special features of the protection system are the innovative internal burst panel technology and the optimized cylindrical design of the flame extinguishing element. Thanks to these developments, the IV8 flameless explosion vent ensures smooth operation and high venting efficiency. In this way, the system enables effective protection of equipment inside buildings at risk of dust explosions.

Burst sensor connected to production process control system

An integrated burst sensor connected to the production process control system detects the opening of a device as a result of a burst. This causes the production process to stop immediately, including but not limited to, shutting down conveyor systems.

Effective in areas where EVN valves might not be enough

The IV8 flameless explosion vent boasts excellent areas of net relief. This is made possible by its patented cylindrical design. One device can protect an area of up to 12.3 m3. Meanwhile, the maximum protected volume is 49.2 m3. It is suitable for explosion protection of most types of dust, except for explosions involving metal dust. The IV8 is therefore typically used in process vessels with larger volumes or in dust collection applications where multiple EVN valves would be required. Often a single IV8 can replace multiple EVN valves.

Quick service and recovery after an explosion

An explosion has occurred in your device and the flameless IV8 vent has acted up? As long as the protected device is fit for further operation, just call our service number. We will come and replace the IV8 device’s entertainment panel on the spot so that the vent is capable of continuing to protect the apparatus.

Model approach to explosive safety in an industrial plant

Model approach to explosive safety in an industrial plant

Step 1
ATEX Audit

During the ATEX Audit, we will focus on deficiencies in explosive safety and indicate tasks that should be performed first to have the strongest impact on safety improvement.

Step 2
Protection Concept

The result of the ATEX Audit is also a preliminary concept of protecting the installation from explosion. It allows estimating the costs of protections. After testing the explosiveness parameters of the dust from the installation, we move on to the final concept and design.

Step 3
Design and selection of protections

After accepting the concept and testing the explosiveness parameters of the dust from the installation, we proceed to the final selection of explosion protections and create a design that takes into account all required changes in production.

Step 4
“Turnkey” delivery and installation

We coordinate the entire delivery and installation process of protections. We have our own service teams with experience in performing installation without the need to stop the investor’s plant operation.

Step 5
Execution of ERA and EPD

We conduct a post-implementation Explosion Risk Assessment (ERA) and prepare (or update) the Explosion Protection Document (EPD). We usually also conduct training for the crew in the field of explosive safety.
